ADA
Issue: The Department of Justice is currently set to make previous ADA guidelines into regulations. This means new construction or renovation of marinas must follow ADA rules in ensuring there is accessible access from the parking lot to, at least, one pier that must include all types (various sizes, covered, open, w/services, without, etc.) of slips that are available at the marina. At this time there is no deadline set for when the regulations will be implemented.
Action: AMI is working with the Access Board to develop web-based and live training for marinas on ADA.
