New courses, new directions

This is a summary of our strategic plan and IMI's future direction.

The training center's goals

  • Ensure that those professional development opportunities provide consistent learning across geographies.
  • Support existing and future professional certification programs for the marina professional.
  • Build the long-term sustainability of the Association and the training center by understanding the financial and human capacity requirements.

Priority tasks for achieving these goals:

  • Prepare a matrix that compares courses across geographies.
  • Prepare notebook that compiles course's learning objectives, session plans and learning tool templates.
  • Support franchise partners so that global programming is successful.

  • Support the CMM network and strengthen the CMM profile and value both internally and externally across the industry.
  • Review the current CMM process and qualification standards for the present and the future.
  • Review, revise and augment certification options and integrate with content.

Support the CMM network and strengthen the CMM profile and value both internally and externally across the industry

  • Produce a Global CMM marketing plan.
  • Produce a statement to explain the value of the CMM qualifications.
  • Create recognition of the CMM by linking it to a recognised qualification (ie UK NVQ's).
  • Consider different funding models to support the promotion, marketing and administration of the CMM program.
  • Create a List-server to support online network for CMMs only.
  • Create an online listing of CMMs that can be used by external audience as high-quality consulting network.
  • Formalized annual meeting and social schedule.

Review the current CMM process and qualification standards for the present and the future

  • Streamline the CMM application without losing rigor, with special attention to the needs and understanding of the European/Australian membership.
  • For non-US applicants, ensure that CMM applications are reviewed by a representative from the applicant's host country.
  • Annual review of the application process and how it is administered.

Review, revise and augment certification options and integrate with content

  • Review global learning objectives to ensure that they match with CMM experience requirements.
  • Prepare a report that presents different certification options.
  • Explore the need and implementation of Continuing Education for CMMs, including a CPD strategy for all European CMM's and the equivalent for CMMs in Australia and the U.S.
